SOME FACTS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT EMINEM

Eminem, born as Marshall Bruce Mathers III, is a prominent American rapper, record producer, and actor, who is considered as the best-selling artist of the 2000s in the US and has had 10 number-one albums on the Billboard 200 as well as five number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
These are some facts about the rapper that might blow you away:
  1. Eminem's parents met when they were very young. His mother, Debbie, was only 14 while his father, Bruce, was only 18. They were in the same band called "Daddy Warbucks" before they separated. After leaving the family, his father moved to California and later had two children, Michael and Sarah. Eminem stayed with his mother in Michigan and Missouri, who then had another son called Nathan Kane Samara.
  2. Eminem always wrote letters to his father when he was a teenager but unfortunately, they never arrived and came back marked "return to sender".
  3. Young Eminem experienced several cases of bullying, one of which was done by a boy named De'Angelo Bailey and had resulted in Eminem's severe head injury. His mother filed a lawsuit against the school in 1982 and the bully was dismissed the following year. In 1999, Eminem wrote a song about the bully entitled 'Brain Damage' which resulted in him getting sued by Bailey for $1 million. The judge, however, dismissed the case by writing a song on it.
  4. He was also beaten by black youths several times as he lived in a primarily black neighborhood.
  5. Eminem's relationship with his mother did not run very well. They frequently fought because his mother was having a very suspicious, almost paranoid personality. In 1999 his mother sued him for about $10 million for slandering her on 'The Slim Shady LP'.
  6. Because of truancy and poor grades, Eminem spent three years in the ninth grade of Lincoln High School before he finally dropped out at the age of 17.
  7. When Eminem was 20, he was apprehended by the police because of shooting at a police car with their paintball gun. The case, however, was dismissed as the alleged victim did not show up in court.
  8. Eminem started rapping with his high school friend, Mike Ruby, at the age of 14 adopting the names 'Manix' and 'M&M' which later evolved into 'Eminem'. As his reputation broadened, Eminem was recruited by several rap groups, the first of which was the 'New Jacks'.
  9. Eminem's first studio album, 'Infinite', which was released in 1996, wasn't very successful because it was sold only about 1000 copies. Three years later, he came out with 'Slim Shady LP', his commercial debut which reached no. 2 spots on the Billboard 200 and earned four platinum certificates in the USA from the RIAA.
  10. His song entitled 'Rap God' which was released in October 2013 was recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most words in a song that is 1,560 words in 6:04 minutes at an average of 4.28 words per second.
  11. In 2013, Eminem was offered the lead role in the sci-fi movie entitled 'Elysium'. He was firstly interested in taking the offer but he turned it down as soon as he found out that the movie was not shot in his hometown, Detroit, as he requested. The role was then landed to Matt Damon.
  12. Eminem, the hip-hop king, is three people in one; Slim Shady (the guy with an attitude, outrageous, and controversial opinion’s), Eminem (a best-selling artist of the last decade), and Marshall Mathers (a shy, introverted individual hidden inside Eminem).

  14. Eminem was married twice to Kimberly Anne "Kim" Scott. They first met in 1989 when Kim ran away from home at the age of 13 and stayed in Eminem's house. Their first marriage was in 1999, four years after their daughter was born. They separated in 2001 and re-married in January 2006. Eminem, however, filed for divorce four months later, in early April.
  15. Regarding their divorce, Eminem and Kim agreed to joint custody of their daughter, Hailie. He also has custody of  Whitney, Kim's daughter from another relationship.
